producers are turning modest profits due to higher prices, according to J.P.

Thursday after the rand weakened slightly.
The in-delivery June corn contract rose 18 rand to ZAR1,503 a metric ton,
July corn rose ZAR16 to ZAR1,504/ton and September corn rose ZAR15 to

Russia exported 20.2 million metric tons of grain between
July 1, 2008, the beginning of the current marketing year, to June 18, 2009, the
Agriculture Ministry said Thursday.
In the whole of the 2007-2008 marketing year, Russia exported about 13 million
tons of grain.

Volatility affecting the futures market has begun
to invade the cash basis market as well, with daily spot soybean premiums at
terminals tracked by Dow Jones Newswires trending from 10 cents higher to 20

Trading company Bunge said it opened a factory Thursday
in Brazil's Mato Grosso state to crush soybeans into soyoil and soymeal.
